Experience Hacienda Puerta del Cielo Ecolodge’s lush tropical setting with sweeping vistas of Volcán Masaya National Park, while relaxing on the deck of your own Private Casita! Each comfortably appointed Private Casita enjoys spectacularly expansive views of the active and continuously smoking Masaya Volcano, located at a 5 km distance.

Start you vacation right with a soothing 50-minute full -body massage! Two individual massages are included in this package.

During your stay you will have a chance to visit the vibrant and picturesque Colonial City of Granada. Founded in 1524, it is considered to be the oldest European settlement on the American Continent. Our tour will take you to the historic church plaza where William Walker declared himself “King of Nicaragua;” you will take-in the expansive views of the colonial city from the church’s bell tower; then you’ll watch as world-class cigars are hand-made to your specifications; next, visit a Chocolate Museum and sneak a sample of two; after lunch you’ll have the opportunity to stroll through Granada’s bustling Central Plaza where horse-drawn carriages still line the cobblestone streets, locals take their afternoon strolls, and vendors hawk their wares. Also, on this excursion, we will take you on a leisurely hour-long boat ride through the green and tranquil tiny islands called, “Las Isletas.”

Every evening at 5:00 PM, we offer a complimentary appetizer at the Upstairs Bar.

Green Season Special – 6 days/5 nights

The “Green Season” in Nicaragua runs from mid-May through mid-November. It is when the Nicaraguan landscape is most lush and verdant. During the Green Season, rainfall usually occurs in the early morning hours and in short bursts in the afternoon. The daily rains refresh the air and maintain ideal temperatures at the Hacienda. Rainfall does not interfere with daytime tours.

Visit Granada, the oldest colonial city on the American Continent. There you can climb the 72 winding steps to the top of a historic church bell tower for a bird’s eye view of the colonial city, visit Doña Elba’s Cigars for custom cigars rolled to order, visit the ChocoMuseo to sample their hand-made treats. You’ll have a chance to step back-in-time with a stroll on the cobblestone streets surrounding the Historic Spanish Colonial Central Plaza. This tour will also take you on a tranquil boat ride through a group of tiny islands called, “Las Isletas.” Relax on this rustic boat tour as you take in the abundant beauty of Nicaragua’s tropical flora and fauna.

Ride to the summit of active Volcán Masaya! There you will walk a few yards to the rim of the rumbling Santiago Crater and witness the red molten lava churning in the center of the crater. Afterwards, you will visit Masaya’s Artisans’ Market where you can explore the many colorful vendor stalls, each showcasing the beautifully rustic and exotic art and craft-works handmade by local Artisans.

Sample itinerary below (this will be modified to accommodate your tours with already booked tours)

Saturday: Daytime pick-up at Managua Int’l Airport (MGA) & transfer to Hacienda Puerta del Cielo Ecolodge. Enjoy a refreshing welcome cocktail upon arrival, a complimentary appetizer at 5:00 PM, and be our guest for a delicious alfresco dinner served at 7:00 PM on our dining terrace. (Please note that evening flights will not arrive in time for the complimentary dinner service.)
Sunday: Awake to the sounds of the birds in the jungle below your Private Deck and enjoy a volcano view breakfast from 7:30 to 9:00 AM. Immediately after breakfast, we will head to Laguna Apoyo where you can swim & kayak in the warm, medicinal waters of a dormant volcanic crater! Lunch & drinks can be purchased lakeside (not included). You will return to the Hacienda about 2 PM, to rest a bit before joining us for free appetizers at 5:00 PM. Your complimentary dinner will be served at 7:00 PM.
Monday: Up early for a 7:30 AM breakfast, as tour departs at 8:30 AM to visit Granada, Latin America’s colonial jewel & the oldest European settlement on the American Continent. Next, you’ll enjoy a leisurely boat tour of a group of tiny islands, (Las Isletas). Here, you can sit back & admire the beautiful flora & fauna of lake Nicaragua, the 10th largest lake fresh water lake in the world! Return to Hacienda Puerta del Cielo about 3:00 PM to unwind before free appetizers at 5:00 PM. Your complimentary dinner is served at 7:00 PM.
Tuesday: A day to chill by the pool, sunbathe or snooze in a breezy hammock at Hacienda Puerta del Cielo! Enjoy your soothing spa services, (2 individual massages are included with package). At 7:00 PM, we will provide a complimentary Nicaraguan feast, featuring authentic national dishes!
Wednesday: After breakfast, depart at 9:00 AM for Catarina, a picturesque hilltop town with spectacular views. Followed by a visit to the rustic village of San Juan de Oriente, known for its world-class ceramics. Local potters provide a hands-on demonstration, afterward roam the tiny shops in search of the perfect souvenir. Return to the Hacienda about 2:00 PM to put your feet up before free appetizers at 5:00 PM. Your complimentary dinner is served at 7:00 PM.
Thursday: departs at 8:30 AM/returns at 3:00 PM. First stop, Volcan Masaya National Park, where we will visit the Vulcanology Museum before ascending the summit to peer into the “Mouth of Hell!” Next, we will stop for lunch en route to the capital of Masaya, (please note that food and refreshments while on tour are not included in the price of package.) After lunch we head to Nicaragua’s cradle of culture, Masaya, where we will visit the Old Artisans’ Market. Here you will find a treasure trove of native handicrafts – great gift and souvenir opportunities! Return to the Hacienda about 3:30 PM.
Friday: Enjoy your last alfresco meal with us from 7:30 to 9:00 AM and check-out of your beautiful Private Casita. We will bid you a fond farewell and deliver you to Managua Int’l Airport for your return flight home.
